Home mtDNA Female Lineage Test

The Home mtDNA Female Lineage Test is designed to determine whether two or more individuals share a common maternal ancestry. This test analyzes mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which is passed from a mother to all of her children and remains largely unchanged across generations. Because of this inheritance pattern, mtDNA testing is an effective way to evaluate biological relationships through the maternal line.

This test can be used to compare individuals connected through an unbroken maternal lineage, such as siblings, maternal relatives, or extended family members. If a shared maternal relationship exists, the mtDNA profiles will match. If the individuals do not share the same maternal line, differences will be identified in their genetic profiles.

DNA samples are collected privately at home using painless cheek swabs and analyzed by an AABB-accredited U.S. laboratory using advanced testing technology and validated procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results. Due to the detailed sequencing and analysis required, laboratory processing typically takes 14–21 business days after all samples are received.
