The mtdna maternal lineage test will determine whether two or more people are related through their maternal line. Test participants can be male or female. The Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence variation is passed from females to their children and has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, thus it remains the same through many generations.
This test focuses on the Mitochondrial DNA and results in a unique mtDNA profile for each individual tested. MtDNA testing takes longer than other tests in the lab due to the test being a mitochondrial test. Once all compliant samples have reached the lab, your mtDNA test will be completed in 14-21 business days. Your result will be accredited and notarized for use for any legal purpose. It is important to note that this test will not differentiate women that are in the same maternal lineage or children with the same mother.
